Norrie McCathie Benevolent Fund
The fund was established in memory of Norrie McCathie.
The 8th of January 1996 will be forever etched in the minds of all Dunfermline supporters as one of the most tragic in their history - one of the all time great Dunfermline players died from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Norrie was in the prime of his life, a dedicated professional footballer and captain of Dunfermline Athletic FC.
Through his immense loyalty to both the club and community, Norrie earned himself the title of 'Mr Dunfermline'. Perhaps an article that appeared in Pars programme for the emotional game shortly after his death "The Last Word" best sums up the determination that fires allthe supporters of the Fund.
'There’s no way that this will be the last word about Norrie McCathie. His memory and inspiration will live on for a very long time. If younger players, and even some of the not so young, can take a leaf out of his book and put into the game what Norrie has, the community of Dunfermline will be in a very healthy state.'
