vs Leven Boys

Title-chasing Leven came to Dalgety Bay to face the Norries under the guidance of Darren Yeates and Archie Ford for the evening, and a long-range equaliser from Ally Brown earned a well-deserved point for the home side.

After a disappointing performance last time out, the Norries faced title favourites Leven, hoping to get their game back on track.  As always with Leven, the game was hotly-contested throughout and it was the visitors who started strongest.  The Norries seemed to be struggling to erase the memories of their last match and Leven controlled the first period.  With the midfield struggling to stem the flow, the home defence was being stretched on both flanks and it was no surprise when a cut back from the right byeline was met by an onrushing attacker and hammered home.  As the Norries began to find their feet, they lost a second goal to a fine run and shot from the edge of the area which found its way into the corner of the net.

The Norries came out for the second period with a renewed appetite for the game.  They created two good chances, which were blocked on the edge of the six-yard box by the Leven back line.  Then, a curling pass over the defence by Darren Campbell was met on the volley by JAMIE FORRESTER, who guided the ball over the onrushing keeper and high into the net.  The Norries now had the upper hand and Conner Hutchison had a shot saved and then a cut back just missed by the Norries forward-line.  then, as the period drew to a close, Darren Campbell hit a fierce shot from the edge of the box which beat the goalie and hit the bar.  The rebound seemed to take forever to come to earth, before JAMIE FORRESTER calmly slotted it home.

The visitors picked up the pace of the game in the final period and the play raged from end to end.  Half chances were created and missed before another long-range effort from a Leven midfielder crashed off the bar and the rebound was bundled home.  The Norries had it all to do again, but they surged back, and with 15 minutes left,  ALLY BROWN picked up the ball in midfield and strode on to fire a glorious left-foot strike into the top of the net from 25 yards.

Even at 3-3, both sides pushed for the winner, but despite one or two good efforts, the match finished with honours even, which was a fair reflection on the game.  The Norries recovered from a poor start to create their fair share of chances and scored three excellent goals.  All of the squad played their part and they all showed a great spirit to twice come from behind.  Leven had their periods of dominance and were particularly strong in the middle of the park.  Their push for the league title goes on.
