vs Glenrothes Strollers
A dull day in Glenrothes was brightened by an effective performance by the 94s, with Ally Brown and a trialist notching hat-tricks.
After another two weeks'enforced weather break, the 94s returned to league duty against Glenrothes, trying to work-off the disappointment of a close defeat to league leaders Kennoway in their last match. The day got off to a sticky start when midfielder Chris Gordon pulled up in the warm-up and had to sit out the match.
The early stages saw the Norries pressing the home box and several chances went begging before JACK MATSON knocked home the first goal from close range. The Norries stayed on top for the rest of the period with ALLY BROWN (2), CHRIS CAMPBELL and TRIALIST making it 5-0 at the break.
Glenrothes took the game to the Norries in the second period but the match soon reverted to the pattern of the first period. Chances were created and missed as the Norries shuffled their side to have a look at the trialists in their ranks. Eventually, a sharp through ball found ALLY BROWN free in the box and he fired home under the advancing 'keeper.
The final period saw the Norries add another three goals from TRIALISTS before Glenrothes staged a granstand finish and deservedly got their goal, smacking home a re-bound after Ally Moore had made an excellent stop from a free kick. All credit to the hosts who competed well throughout and showed an excellent attitude under severe pressure at times.
