vs St Johns

The Norries got back to league business after a long break, with an efficient 3-0 win over St Johns, in a howling gale at Beveridge Park.

The strong wind made passing football almost impossible.  The Norries dominated from the start, winning a series of corners and every one caused havoc in the home defence.  Three attempts were cleared off the line in the first fifteen minutes.  Just as it looked like the opener would never arrive, ALLY BROWN rose to meet another Jack Hynd corner, and headed home from inside the six yard box.

The pressure continued and when CAMMY ROBERTSON found space inside the box, he turned sharply and clipped the ball into the corner of the net.  The Norries were in control but could not find the decisive third goal in the first period.

The second and third period continued in a similar vein.  The strong wind disrupted any attempt at passing football and when the Norries worked their way into the home box, the St Johns keeper made a string of fine saves.  The third goal did come, when CONNER HUTCHISON curled home direct from a corner late in the second period.  After that, the game petered out, leaving the wind to dominate.

This was a good performance in difficult conditions and blew away the disappointment of the loss in the Scottish Cup the week before.
