vs Elgin Star Tangerines

After a sluggish start, the Norries progress to the third round of the Scottish with a hard-earned win against Elgin Star Tangerines.

It was a fantastic morning at Dalgety Bay and the Norries started by pinning the visitors back for the first 10 minutes.  A corner from the left and JACK MATSON headed home the first goal.  Full steam ahead now, and soon after, DARREN CAMPBELL fired high into the net from 20 yards.  Then the Norries started to rest on their laurels, thinking the game was already won.   But a missed clearance on the six yard line let Elgin pull one back, before a break down the right and a sharp cross brought the score level.  The Norries responded again and CAMMY ROBERTSON sprinted clear, rounded the 'keeper and fired home.

The Norries started the second half in control but a lack of communication at the back allowed the visiting striker to nip in and steal another equaliser.  But this only served to bring the Norries out of their slumber.  The final 30 minutes saw them take control and score the goals that put the result beyond doubt.  DARREN CAMPBELL (3), CONOR DURIE (2), CAMMY ROBERTSON and JACK HYND got their names on the scoresheet.

This was a somewhat lethargic performance by the Norries, and Elgin Star worked hard, closing down in the midfield and forcing errors in the home defence.  It was an exciting match where the Norries' strength told in the end.
