vs Tullibody Thistle

The Norries suffered their first reverse of the new season in a closely-contested match with an excellent Tullibody side at Dalgety Bay.

The match was very tight from the start, with both sides being restricted to half chances.  An even first period was followed by a second in which the Norries started to gain the upper hand.  This all changed 10 minutes into the period with an unfortunate dismissal which left the Norries with 10 men and facing a huge challenge to get a result from the game.

The game remained finely balanced.  Then a break from Tullibody and a speculative shot from the edge of the box eluded Ally Moore in the Norries goal and finished in the corner of the net.  Despite this, the Norries took the game to the visitors in the final period, but as the final whistle approached, it was clearly not going to be their day.  A late opportunity from a free kick was fired just over by Conner Hutchison and the match was lost.

Credit to Tullibody who moved and used the ball well, whilst there were excellent performances from the Norries defensive unit of Euan Munro, Ally Brown, Michael Fleming and Jack Matson.  The handicap of being a player short against a quality side just proved too much.

The Norries now every incentive to bounce back in their upcoming Scottish Cup second round tie at home to Elgin Star Tangerines.
