vs Kennoway
A Ryan Campbell hat-trick and two highly dubious penalties were the highlights of a scrappy home win over Kennoway.
The Norries started strongly and just three minutes in, RYAN CAMPBELL fired in a free kick from the edge of the box, which was deflected high into the net. Most of the action was around the Kennoway box and the Norries conspired to miss three easy chances to add to their lead. Late in the period, Kennoway won a free kick on the edge of the Norries box and the kick was hammered high into the net to make it 1-1.
Into the second period and the Norries were pushing forward. A mazy run from the right wing ended with RYAN CAMPBELL slamming home a left-footed shot. Again the Norries failed to build on their lead and when the ball was fired into the box and hit Jack Hynd's arm, the referee awarded a very dubious penalty. The kick was dispatched well and the period ended at 2-2.
The third period found the Norries winning a series of corner and each threatened a third goal. When Ryan Campbell hit a deep cross, CHRIS GORDON rose to head the Norries back into the lead. Just as the Norries settled to play out the game, Kennoway broke into the box and as the defence failed to clear, the ball was fired into the bottom corner. 3-3 with just six minutes to go.
Into the final two minutes and the Norries switched to three at the back to chase the winning goal. The ploy worked and as Jack Hynd broke down the left, he was felled at the edge of the box. It looked marginal, but the referee awarded a penalty. RYAN CAMPBELL took the responsibility and hammered the spot kick into the centre of the goal.
It had been a scrappy game, with little flowing football from either side. But the points were won and the boys now need to gather themselves for an away match with Glenrothes in just 24 hours time.
