vs Leven Boys

The Norries continued their excellent form from two days before with a convincing win over league leaders, Leven.

The early stages were well contested but the Norries were controlling the game well and creating most of the openings.  Then, just two minutes into the second period, Leven got a controversial opener.  The Norries defence held their line at a free kick and at least three forwards seemed clearly offside.  The referee disagreed and allowed Leven a free run on goal, and the Norries were one behind.

The reverse just served to make the Norries more determined to set things right, but hard as they pressed they could not get the equaliser in the second period.

The final session saw them come out roaring and in just five minutes they had forged 3-1 ahead.  A good effort by Darren Campbell was blocked out to CHRIS GORDON, who fired home an unstoppable volley from the edge of the box.  Two minutes later and the provider turned scorer, as DARREN CAMPBELL fired over the keeper from 20 yards out to make it 2-1.  The Norries were now in full flow and a sharp interchange with Cammy Robertson sent DARREN CAMPBELL through on goal and he finished confidently.

Leven were still battling, and a corner midway through the period was bundled home amongst a lot of pushing inside the box, to bring it back to 3-2.  But this was a night on which the Norries would not be denied.  Darren Campbell chased down a loose ball to the corner flag before weaving along the bye line, and when he cut the ball back, CHRIS GORDON was on hand to fire home the fourth goal.  Number five was not far behind, as CAMMY ROBERTSON  got in on the act, placing the ball past the visiting 'keeper from the edge of the box.

This was another impressive all-round performance and sets the squad up nicely for the final three games in five days, at the end of next week.
