vs Kelty Marian
Another effective performance and a hard-earned win at Kelty , as the 94s start a period of seven games in 20 days.
It was a spring-like day in Kelty and whilst the pitch was hard and bumpy, both teams set out to make it a fine contest. In the early stages, most of the action was confined to midfield as both sides struggled to get their passing going. After the opening 10 minutes, the Norries began to get the upper hand. CONOR DURIE'S direct running was causing problems for the home defence and when he chased down a through ball, he got a deserved break back off the 'keeper and placed the ball into the empty net.
The second period again saw most of the action in the Kelty half. A couple of chances went begging before CHRIS GORDON got a clear header from a corner, and placed it into the corner of the net. The Norries were now well in control, but failed to add to their lead by the end of the second period.
The start of the final period saw the Norries pushing hard for the decisive third goal. A dipping cross from Jack Hynd put the home 'keeper under pressure, and when the ball was spilled, RYAN CAMPBELL slotted home from five yards out. The Norries now had their tails up and a clever through ball from Chris Gordon gave CONOR DURIE a chance on the right of the box, and his fine, angled drive found the corner of the net.
With the game won, the Norries settled on the lead and Kelty pushed forward looking for a late goal. A couple of chances were scrambled clear and Andrew Jackson made two fine saves to secure the clean sheet. In chasing the game, a slack throw-in put the Kelty 'keeper under pressure and when his clearance was blocked, it fell kindly for CONNER HUTCHISON, who passed the ball into the unguarded net.
This was a good performance from the whole team and a fine start to period of seven games in 20 days, as we try to catch up with our fixture backlog.
