vs Leven Boys

A disappointing day at Lochgelly as the 94s lost their unbeaten record in 2008.  After a strong first half hour, the Norries succumbed to sucker punches as they chased the game, having gone 1-0 behind.

It was a sunny but windy morning in Lochgelly for the Fife Cup replay with Leven.  The match started brightly, with the Norries doing most of the pressing.  A couple of chances went begging and a strong penalty claim was denied as Ally Brown's downward header was blocked on the line by a Leven forearm.  Leven were always dangerous and a quick break caught the defence out of position and despite their prominence, the Norries found themselves one down.

The Norries started the second period well but as it progressed, their attacks began to get more desperate and they were being caught on the break, as their midfield pushed forward.  In a two minute spell late in the period, they conceded two goals and Leven were able to rest easy and defend their lead.

The final period saw Leven content to hold the lead and wait for their opportunity as the Norries, now playing with just three at the back, chased the game.  The inevitable came with just five minutes to go, as a misplaced header gave a Leven forward the chance to make it four.

Overall, it had been a poor result after a bright and spirited start.  Leven played very well and took their chances during the spells that they were on top.  The Norries were left to rue four or five excellent chances that were spurned when the score was at 0-0 and 0-1.  So now it's back to league business with four strong teams (Leven, Glenrothes, Kennoway and the Norries) remaining tightly grouped at the top of the division.  Still a lot to play for!
