vs Leven Boys
A closely fought match on a difficult, bumpy surface, in which a long range effort by Chris Campbell earned the Norries a deserved draw at Leven.
This was a long-postponed Fife Cup match in which the Norries started slowly up the slope and against the wind. The game was largely confined to midfield, with Leven having most of the early possession. As the game settled, a mix-up in the Norries defence allowed Leven to break quickly and their centre forward fired past Andrew Jackson in the Norries goal.
In the seond period with the slope and wind advantage, the Norries began to dominate, but several good chances were missed and the home keeper produed a couple of excellent saves. Despite some strong attacking play, they could not break through a well-drilled Leven defence.
Into the final period and the Norries still had the edge, but their forward surges were becoming increasingly desperate as the final whistle approached. With six minutes left, CHRIS CAMPBELL broke from defence and fired a shot from 35 yards which arced over the home keeper and into the net. This initiated a frantic last five minutes as the Norries chased a winning goal and Leven looked to get back in front.
At the end, a draw was a fair result between two good sides.
